Standard Calculation Formula
Gross WPM is calculated as standard key depression words, where a word equals 5 characters (including spaces):
Gross WPM = (Total Typed Characters / 5) / (Time Taken in Minutes)
Net WPM evaluates penalties on mistakes. SSC deducts full word errors:
Net WPM = [(Total Typed Characters - (Incorrect Words * 5)) / 5] / (Time Taken in Minutes)
